Morning Commute Soundtrack: The Muppets
Posted: 10.14.2011 Filed under: Morning Commute Soundtrack, The Muppets Leave a comment »In honor of an autumnal beach-filled weekend with a group of friends who are truly awesome, today’s MCS is a tradition that was started four months ago, the last time this group of friends all got together for a summery beach-filled weekend. The entire ride down from Philadelphia to the Jersey Shore was filled with singalongs to the Beach Boys (including ‘God Only Knows’, suitably altered to ‘Science Only Knows’) and the Beatles. (And the laughter – oh, the laughter!)
Because my dislike of Mike Love is well-known I won’t repeat it here, but ‘Kokomo’ is one of those so-bad-it’s-good songs, and was engrained in my consciousness in the early 90s when the Muppets “covered” it. Because this group of friends and I all agreed that this version was the superior one – I don’t care what Full House and Uncle Jesse have to say about it!! – I dedicate this to a weekend of merriment and beaching.
