Morning Commute Soundtrack: Foxy Shazam

Having decided to get back to the fine art of writing full album reviews once again, and keeping (mostly) to that promise – I’ve been busy, okay?! – I listened to something this morning that I’m not quite ready yet to review in full, but which excited me enough to want to write about them. Confused yet? Don’t be. Just listen to my new musical discovery which, as is customary with me, is actually several years old by this point. (But it’s new to me, dammit!)
Anyway, take one part Queen, one part David Bowie, one part The Darkness, and one part Meat Loaf, and you get Foxy Shazam. Obviously this appeals to me but I was so blown away by vocalist Eric Sean Nally’s powerful vocals and natural showmanship that it led me, for the first time ever, to agree with – and like – a comment on YouTube: “I don’t care how gay Freddie was, somehow this man is his child.”
Word is that their live performances are especially astounding. If they come to Philadelphia anytime soon, I’ll certainly check them out.
